Evaluate and Reflect

How did I go with this assignment? How will I improve for next time?

Evaluating is about looking at the feedback from your teacher, reflecting on your efforts and identifying your strengths and weaknesses to improve your skills for the next task. Evaluating is the vital last step in the process that helps you turn the assignment into a profitable learning experience.

The EVALUATING step - some strategies:

  • READ your feedback carefully.
  • ASK yourself questions: What were my strengths and weaknesses? What steps in the process do I need to improve on? What skills do I need to work on?
  • SEEK assistance from your teacher, the librarian or the Learning Resource Centre staff. Read some of the essay and assignment guide books available in the Library.
  • PRACTISE what you learn from these sources of assistance.
