Term 3 Assessable Task

 

 

Length: There are two components of this task:

1.    Summary - one A4 page to be written in class.

2.    Extended response to be written in class - length open.

 

Marks / value: 25% of course mark.

 

Date due: Week 6, Term 3, 2008.

 

Purpose of this assignment is to work towards these outcomes:

-  Identifies, gathers and evaluates geographical information.

-  Analyses, organises and synthesises geographical information.

-  Selects and applies appropriate geographical tools.

-  Explains links between Australia and other countries and the role of Australia in the global community.

-  Applies geographical knowledge, understanding and skills with knowledge of civics to demonstrate informed and active citizenship.

 

Task

Research and present a one-page summary and in-class response on the nature of one two-way link that Australia has with one other country. You must also examine the importance of this link.

Organise and Synthesise

The information in your summary sheet needs to be presented in a logical sequence, organised under subheadings. Combine your notes to form sections of information under appropriate subheadings in your own words. Your extended in-class response should be in essay format.

 

Create and Present

Your summary sheet should convey relevant information clearly and concisely on 1 x A4 sheet. Your in-class response should conform to the normal essay format of introduction/body/conclusion and should be a more in-depth examination of the topic that includes explanation of all the required aspects.
