  • BDC Picasso Cow

    14 May, 2012

Last week the Primary School became the proud owners of a life-sized fibreglass cow. BDC is one of ten schools in the region participating in the ‘Picasso Cow’ competition, an initiative of Dairy Australia aimed at educating children about the importance of the dairy industry, as well as the health and nutritional benefits of consuming dairy.

In the coming weeks the Primary SRC will be coordinating several activities and events surrounding this initiative (she needs to be named and painted!).
**Update** Our cow has been named "Madame Moo".

  • The Langford-Smith Resource Centre Opened

    30 March, 2012

The recently completed extensions to the existing Secondary library and the new Primary library building was officially opened at a ceremony on 30 March and named ‘The Langford-Smith Resource Centre’.

Mr Ken Langford-Smith unveiled the plaque for the new building along side Chairman Win Howard, The Right Reverend Keith Slater and Principal Alan Ball.

Ken Langford-Smith, a former Headmaster of The Armidale School, is a founding father of Bishop Druitt College. His vision was a driving force in the creation of our school, so the school felt it was appropriate that the first named building at BDC is in his honour.

The new building includes three study rooms for small classes or study groups and an open plan senior study area for Secondary students. The Primary library allows for a greater focus on the needs of younger students and removes the need to share resources with Secondary students. It features quiet reading areas, a technology section with electronic whiteboard as well as space for multiple classes to have lessons in the library.

  • Robbie Deans Visits BDC

    14 March, 2012

Robbie Deans, current ARU Wallabies coach, visited BDC as part of the “Building Junior Rugby on the Mid North Coast” program being conducted by North Coast Rugby.

He addressed students involved in rugby and presented the BDC captain's jersey to Callum Chubb. Deans then signed autographs and met with students before conducting a training session with select U/16 and Open players. The session involved passing drills that the current wallabies do in their training, with the aim of improving speed of passing and communication between players.
