BDC RUGBY

Welcome to Bishop Druitt College Rugby. Rugby at BDC is played from a grassroots level to having players selected to play for the Australian Schoolboys Barbarians team.

Our primary-aged players play in the local Coffs Harbour Juniors competition on Friday nights, as well as against visiting schools.  Our secondary teams are formed to play against touring teams and also take part in MNCRU competitions.

Win, lose or draw, BDC teams play in the ‘spirit of rugby’.

Registration

Any players wishing to join a BDC Primary team must submit a nomination form. These forms can also be found in Parent Lounge as a Google form. Once this form has been completed and submitted you will be invited into the rugby activity under Tours and Excursions in your Parent Lounge where you can give permission and pay the annual resource fee ($50.00).

Once this has been completed players will be placed in a team and receive their playing jersey. These jerseys are to be returned at the end of the season or a $40.00 replacement fee will be incurred. BDC red rugby shorts and socks can be purchased from the BDC uniform shop.

Coaches and Managers

We would like to thank our parents who volunteer to coach and manage teams each week. If you are helping with a team or would like to assist please ensure that the college has a valid copy of your Working with Children Check. These can be completed online. The minimum coaching requirement is a coaching kid’s rugby certification.

Coffs Harbour Junior Rugby Competition

The following information relates to BDC playing in the local primary school competition:

  • Training is on Monday afternoons at BDC from 3.30pm – 5.00pm.
  • All players bring training clothes to change into, as well as a mouthguard and football boots.
  • Headgear can be supplied by the college or you can purchase your own. Training commences in Term 1.
  • All players must wear headgear whilst training and playing.
  • The competition runs over Terms 2&3 and players must be committed to playing both terms as part of a team.

In addition to the annual resource fee charged by the college, to be eligible to play in the competition all players must register with NSW Rugby and pay the annual fee, which also covers insurance.

We are looking forward to another successful season in rugby and encourage parents to become involved and support their child.
