Head of Primary News 2026 Term 1 Week 3
By Sarah Stokes, Head of Primary
Welcome to a new school year at BDC!
It has been a joy to see our Primary campus buzzing with energy as we kick off another school year. Watching our students reconnect and dive into their new learning adventures reminds us all why the BDC community is so special. This term, our focus remains on belonging and curiosity, ensuring every child feels at home while they explore new ideas through our Deep Learning and Investigations programs.
Staying Safe: Parking & Collection
As we settle into our routines, the safety of our students during the busy afternoon transition is our top priority. We ask for your continued cooperation in ensuring a smooth and safe departure for everyone.
Please remember the following collection options:
- Bus Travel: A great way to build independence; staff are on hand to supervise boarding.
- Classroom Collection: For those who prefer to meet their child directly at the classroom door.
- Parent Pick-Up (Drive-through): Please remain in your vehicle and display your family name sign clearly.
- The Crossing Meeting Point: You may arrange to meet your child at the pedestrian crossing near the end of the bus bay for a quick and safe transition to your parked car.
A Note on Safety: Please be mindful of local parking regulations and neighbour access. Avoid double parking or blocking driveways, as this ensures visibility for our students crossing the road. The carpark out the back of the building is for staff access only.
Sport & Spirit: Swimming Carnival Updates
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our recent Competitors Swimming Carnival! The sportsmanship displayed by our students was truly impressive.
To ensure everyone can be part of this event, we will hold a dedicated non-competitor event on Friday, 27 February. This is a final chance to secure those vital House Points and have fun. Therefore, we will look forward to celebrating our athletes at our Week 5 Assembly, where we will officially announce House Point totals and crown our Age Champions.
Uniform Reminders
To keep our students looking sharp and feeling part of the team, please ensure full summer uniforms are worn daily.
- College Hats: Essential for all outdoor play ("No hat, no play").
- Shoes: Black leather lace-up shoes (Velcro is perfectly fine for Kindergarten).
- Hair Accessories: Ribbons or scrunchies should be red, blue, black, or white.
