The Class of 2025: World-Prepared, Purpose-Driven, Individually Outstanding

Thursday, 18 Dec 2025

In a year defined by growth, complexity and ambition, the Bishop Druitt College Class of 2025 has emerged as a powerful reflection of what it means to be world prepared, adaptable and future focused. As the largest Year 12 cohort in the College’s history, with 121 students completing the Higher School Certificate, this graduating class has demonstrated that success is not defined by a single pathway but by the courage to pursue excellence in diverse and meaningful ways.

Across academic, vocational, creative and service-based pursuits, the Class of 2025 embraced opportunity with confidence and resilience. Their results reflect a cohort committed not only to achievement but to purpose. An outstanding 92% of students achieved at least one Band 4 or above, while 69% secured at least one Band 5 or Band 6 result, highlighting the depth and breadth of academic success across the year group.

Academic excellence remains a hallmark of Bishop Druitt College. In 2025, students achieved a remarkable 61 Band 6 or Notional Band 6/E4 results, alongside 162 Band 5 results and 275 Band 4 results, inclusive of accelerated students. These outcomes were complemented by strong performance in Extension subjects, with 54 E4 and E3 results across Mathematics, English, Music and History, reinforcing the strength of the College’s high-achievement and extension programs.

This success has been supported by a deeply embedded culture of personalised learning and mentorship. Under the leadership of Year Coordinator Ms Katie Gudgeon, Acting Director of Student Wellbeing Ms Andrea Wiffen, Careers Pathways Coordinator Mrs Janine Ryan, chaplains, counsellors and a highly dedicated teaching staff, students were known, supported and challenged as individuals. The leadership of ten College Captains and six House Leaders further strengthened a culture of collaboration, service and shared responsibility.

The Class of 2025 also excelled in creative and performance disciplines, receiving nominations and selections across OnStage, Callback, Encore, Art Express, Shape and Yarilla Museum exhibitions. These achievements reflect not only technical skill, but courage, originality and a willingness to engage deeply with complex ideas and creative processes.

Pathways beyond school have been equally impressive. By December, 78% of students had applied for university, with 97% of applicants seeking early entry, resulting in an 80% early entry success rate prior to ATAR release. Students also pursued vocational education, apprenticeships, traineeships, Defence Force pathways and distance education, demonstrating the strength of Bishop Druitt College’s commitment to multiple definitions of success.

Community engagement has remained central to this cohort’s identity. Throughout their final year, students raised more than $29,000 for local and global causes, including the World’s Greatest Shave, RISE Coffs Harbour and Learn and Teach Ukraine. These initiatives reflect a generation deeply committed to service, empathy and meaningful social impact.

Bishop Druitt College continues to view education as a transformative journey rather than a singular outcome. Through programs such as Kaizen (Years 5–8), World Options (Years 9–10) and extensive acceleration and extension opportunities, students are equipped not only with academic knowledge, but with critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence and global awareness. Our graduates leave with the confidence to navigate uncertainty and the capacity to contribute positively to the world around them.

As the Class of 2025 steps into their next chapter, we celebrate not only their results, but the character, integrity and hope they bring to their futures. They are innovators, leaders, artists, scholars and change-makers~young people prepared not just for careers but for lives of purpose and impact.

To the Bishop Druitt College Class of 2025: you have not simply completed your schooling; you have shaped a legacy. We congratulate you on your remarkable achievements and look forward with pride to the difference you will make in the world.

We are proud of you!
