Outside School Hours Care
Welcome to OSHC
Bishop Druitt College Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) offers centre-based care for children aged 5 - 12 years for after school during the school term and all day during the school holidays. We value every individual in our care.
Our purpose is to create a safe, caring and stimulating environment where your child can freely choose from a program of activities. The staff team at OSHC are qualified carers and are dedicated to ensuring that children enjoy their OSHC experience.
The centre abides by the relevant Australian Government regulations. Eligible families using our service are able to receive the Child Care Benefit.
What will my child be doing at OSHC?
Our program allows children to choose from a range of activities such as art, craft, drama, games and sport. There is also a quiet area allocated for homework and qualified staff to assist children.
Afternoon tea with an emphasis on healthy eating is provided at OSHC during school term times. Children are all encouraged to sit down together for afternoon tea, which allows staff to get to know the children and to learn about their interests.

We are committed to creating a space where every child feels valued, safe, known and respected. A deep sense of belonging is the foundation for everything we do. When children feel emotionally and physically secure, they are empowered to be themselves, confident, capable and full of potential.
Safety underpins every aspect of our practice. Guided by the principle of paramountcy, children's wellbeing and best interests remain at the centre of every decision, interaction and experience. Our environments encourage children to express themselves, build meaningful relationships and engage confidently with the world around them. We also foster culturally safe spaces where every child and family feels welcomed, respected and included, while maintaining a strong connection to their identity, culture, values and beliefs.
Agency and autonomy are central to our approach. We trust children as capable individuals with a strong sense of voice, choice and ownership over their experiences. By encouraging children to lead their own learning, we nurture curiosity, celebrate their ideas and value their interests. In doing so, they develop confidence, initiative and a strong sense of self.
As educators, we provide an inclusive and responsive environment where children can explore who they are, form meaningful relationships and receive the support they need—whether through rest, play, creativity or connection. We intentionally create opportunities for children to express themselves, embrace challenges and grow into brave thinkers, kind leaders and confident self-advocates.
Kindness, empathy, integrity and independence are woven into everyday life. Children are encouraged to show compassion, include others and stand up for what is right. We see them as courageous upstanders who demonstrate leadership, advocacy and a genuine commitment to fairness and equity in their daily interactions.
We honour children's voices through respectful, trusting and authentic communication. The way we speak with children shapes their confidence, sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing. By modelling positive, playful and genuine relationships, we foster an environment where joy, connection and emotional safety flourish.
Every day, our children inspire us. We see inclusiveness when they invite others into play without hesitation, empathy when they adapt games for younger children or those with additional needs, and resilience in the many ways they rise to new challenges. These moments reinforce our belief that children are capable, resourceful and deeply connected individuals.
At our core, we nurture children to become confident, resilient, curious and compassionate individuals who have a strong sense of belonging, advocate for themselves and others, and move through the world with courage, integrity and kindness.
