Bishop Druitt College is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Shane Oxley as the college’s first Chief Operating Officer (COO). This strategic leadership role under the direction of the College Council and Principal has been created to further strengthen the operational and financial foundation of the school, ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality Anglican education for the Coffs Harbour community and beyond.
Mr Oxley’s energy and passion for the role align strongly with the college’s strategic vision, reflecting its commitment to forward-thinking governance in an increasingly complex educational landscape. Mr Oxley, who has served the college with distinction as Business Manager for the past 19 years, brings to this expanded role more than 35 years of experience in financial and operational leadership across both corporate and education sectors.
“At Bishop Druitt College, our foundation has always been built on community, faith, and a commitment to educational excellence,” said Principal Simon Doyle. “The appointment of a Chief Operating Officer marks an exciting new chapter in our journey, one that strengthens our ability to plan wisely, lead with integrity, and serve our students and families with purpose. With Shane’s expanded leadership role, we are reaffirming our mission to deliver education that is sustainable, values-driven, and responsive to the needs of our growing community.”
As COO, Mr Oxley will continue to report to the Principal and College Council. However, he will supervise key operational areas across all campuses, including finance, risk management, compliance, IT, and facilities. He will also oversee approved major capital projects on behalf of the College Council and Principal, asset management planning, and initiatives focused on continuous school improvement. The role involves regular travel throughout the Grafton Diocese to build relationships with stakeholders and ensure consistent operational standards across the college. He will collaborate closely with the Principal and College Council to align resources and planning with the college’s long-term educational mission and Anglican values.
The role will also support the college’s capacity to respond to growing enrolments, evolving infrastructure needs, and the ever-changing demands of school leadership in regional Australia.
Mr Oxley said he is honoured to step into the role:
“Bishop Druitt College is a truly special place. I’ve been privileged to be part of this community for nearly two decades, and I’m excited to continue that journey in a role that will support not just our staff and students, but families, parishes, and communities across the region.”
This appointment marks a new chapter in the college’s story, highlighting thoughtful growth, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to the community it serves. The college eagerly anticipates the leadership Mr Oxley will bring as it continues to develop as a leading educational institution within the Grafton Diocese.
