Senior Primary Athletics Carnival

Our Primary Athletics Carnival was held at BDC on Monday 1 June and was a fantastic day of House spirit and participation.

There were big numbers across all track and field events, with students competing strongly in the 100m, 200m, 800m, shot put and long jump as well as some novelty activities between events. The weather was kind to us, and it was great to see so many students having a go and supporting their Houses.

The staff and all-ages relay at the end of the day was a real highlight and brought plenty of excitement.

Congratulations to all students who competed. The top three placegetters in all events will qualify for NCIS, which will be held in Term 3 at Kingscliff.

Secondary Athletics Carnival

The Secondary Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday 2 June at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium, providing students with a fantastic venue in which to compete.

The day was highlighted by record numbers of student participation, with excellent turnouts across all track and field events. Several records were broken throughout the carnival, showcasing the talent and dedication of our athletes.

The atmosphere and House spirit were outstanding, particularly during the relays, which provided some exciting and closely contested races. Another highlight of the day was watching the 100m finals, with students charging down the track to the cheers of their House supporters.

Congratulations to all students who competed and contributed to making the carnival such a success. The enthusiasm, sportsmanship and support shown throughout the day reflected the strong sense of community and House pride at Bishop Druitt College.

NCIS Primary Football

Our primary football players recently represented Bishop Druitt College with immense pride and distinction through the pouring rain at the NCIS Primary Football Carnival. We entered three teams in total: a boys team, a girls team, and a mixed team. Every student played with wonderful sportsmanship, showing incredible heart and passion throughout all their matches.

The primary girls team showed fantastic progression as the tournament went on, developing their skills and improving with every match. After a series of excellent performances against tough competition, they finished the day in a fantastic position as the proud NCIS runners up.

The primary boys team faced some exceptionally tough opponents and battled admirably in every fixture. They showed brilliant resilience on the field, securing a strong overall placing in the tournament standings, while a number of our boys produced stellar individual performances throughout the competition.

Our mixed team was also a joy to watch as they worked beautifully together, demonstrating excellent teamwork, supporting one another on the field, and ensuring every player was involved in the action.

To cap off a brilliant day of sport, a large number of our talented players were recognised for their outstanding individual performances and have been selected for the NCIS Representative Teams to compete at the CIS Primary Football level.

For the NCIS Primary Girls Representative Team, congratulations go to Gabrielle Carlon, Livia Sharpe, and Clara Watt. For the NCIS Primary Boys Representative Team, congratulations are extended to Levi Pulver, Eido Roques, Harrison Ross, Emerson Uzzell, and Hugo Wyndham, with Harry Korpar selected as a shadow player.

A massive thank you goes to all the parents who came along to support, and congratulations to all three teams for representing our school community so beautifully.

As we all gather and stand upon Country, may we acknowledge and respect Gumbaynggirr Land and the thousands of years’ worth of both physical and spiritual connection to Country, culture and teachings embedded forever within these Lands.
