iHub News

At the start of Term 2 we had the usual activity associated with supplying new texts to read for English, and preparation for researching a fresh set of research tasks for our senior students.

To integrate learning into our school environment we used student research as part of a featured display in the iHub this term.

Recent Displays

To honour men and women that served in World War I the central area of the iHub features a display of ANZAC and WWI history books. These wonderful resources have been on show since Week 1 for ANZAC Day, and are kept in place to support our Year 10 History unit for the term.

The Year 10 History research involves learning to search WW1 war records for a soldier/nurse on the National Archives website, and interpret details of their embarkation, injuries if any, and where they served.

On a much lighter note, the iHub featured international Star Wars Day celebrations with displays of Star Wars and other science fiction books held in our collection. May the 4th be with you! Revenge of the 5th, and of course Revenge of the 6th!

It is amazing how many students seem to appreciate the popular Star Wars series, and love the variety of books we hold.

Digital Safety Sessions in Week 4

Learning about online safety is of utmost importance, when our students regularly use information from the internet. A series of sessions on issues such as cyber bullying, protecting personal information, and cyber security will be presented to Years 7-10 students on the 15th of May, by the Optus Digital Thumbprint team. More information to be found on SchoolBox during Week 4.

As we all gather and stand upon Country, may we acknowledge and respect Gumbaynggirr Land and the thousands of years’ worth of both physical and spiritual connection to Country, culture and teachings embedded forever within these Lands.
