Incredible Minds and Big Hearts: Primary Learning Update!
What an action-packed term it has been in the Primary School! Our students are diving into amazing new challenges, proving that learning goes far beyond the classroom walls. Here is a quick snapshot of the fantastic things happening this week.
Buzzing with Spelling Brilliance
A huge congratulations to the Primary students who volunteered for the first round of the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee! This nationwide online competition challenges students across Australia to spell 30 words in just 15 minutes, testing both accuracy and speed. The first round is officially complete, and in the coming weeks, we’ll find out which of our talented spellers will advance to the next stage. Fingers crossed!
ICAS Assessments: Resilience in Action
Next week marks the final round of the ICAS assessments. A massive shoutout to the Primary students whose families signed them up to take on these voluntary, extra-curricular exams! We want to acknowledge their incredible hard work, focus, and resilience. Choosing to sit for these rigorous academic tests is no small feat, and we are so proud of the grit and determination these students have displayed every step of the way.
Kaizen Courses: Year 5–8 Real-World Explorers
Our Year 5 to Year 8 students have now fully settled into their Kaizen Courses! With 30 unique electives running, here is a quick glimpse at the hands-on learning taking place:
- Become a Publisher: Budding authors are writing and publishing their very own books, which will soon be proudly displayed at the Coffs Harbour Library!
- Kidpreneur: Future CEOs are learning how to pitch big ideas, build a startup, and run a business.
- Futuristic Creatures: Artists are mastering technical clay-sculpting to bring imaginative 3D creatures to life.
- Community Connections: Students visit a local aged care home to share stories, build relationships, and bring joy to the elderly.
- Marine Conservation: Eco-warriors head to the Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary to learn hands-on marine animal care and rehabilitation.
- Life Skills & Discovery: Other groups are mastering wild survival tactics, building essential first aid skills in Save a Life, exploring human anatomy in Physio, or discovering traditional games played across the globe.
We are so proud of the curiosity, compassion, and drive our students bring to campus every day!
Become A Publisher: Students are excited to become published authors as they create their own and shared novels, which will be published and proudly displayed at school and Coffs Harbour Library. Creativity, collaboration and storytelling come to life!
