HSC Woodwork Projects on display in the iHUB 

After the NESA markers finished examining the amazing work of this year’s Industrial Technology HSC class, they became a feature display in the iHub! What a fantastic and beautifully crafted array of timber furniture pieces. Well done class, and Mr Graham!

Year 10 Holocaust Museum exhibit

The BDC iHub is fortunate each year to host a powerful Year 10 History exhibit of the students' learning and understanding of one of the most difficult chapters of human history. We are always amazed by the creativity and emotive power they convey in their works.

Each of the five year 10 history classes displayed their work on Thursday 3rd of September. The space was a museum of remembrance, allowing visitors an opportunity to witness a range of expression within this topic. This year the exhibit has included media such as interactive digital displays; dance; posters; sculpture; model-making; painting; virtual reality; and at times, quite profound writing.

This year was exemplary, showing that our students had not only performed excellent research on their feature topic, but that they had created testimonies that brought history to life, and connected us with personal experiences and stories of those who suffered.

The importance of visual displays

Creating and interpreting physical and visual works in our iHub space provides students with an opportunity to transform their research and learning into meaningful, tangible experiences that can be shared with a wider audience. 

The Year 10 Holocaust exhibition, developed from students’ own research, encourages students to engage deeply with historical evidence, consider different perspectives, and communicate complex and sensitive ideas thoughtfully and respectfully. 

Similarly, the HSC Industrial Technology timber display showcases the application of design, problem-solving, craftsmanship and technical skills, while allowing students to see their work valued beyond the classroom. Bringing these works into the iHub/library creates a space where learning is visible, celebrated and shared, encourages curiosity and discussion among the wider school community, and demonstrates that the library is not simply a place for books, but a dynamic environment where research, creativity, knowledge and student achievement come together!
