Year 10 Career Exploration Week (Work Experience)

Congratulations to the many Year 10 students who have secured their work experience placements and submitted their paperwork so far!

Students will undertake work experience in Week 7, 23–27 November 2026, with no regular Year 10 classes running during this week. Work experience provides a valuable opportunity for students to explore career interests, develop workplace skills and gain insight into potential future pathways.

Work experience paperwork is due back to Ms Ryan on Friday, 23 October. Students who are unable to secure an in-person placement can access a range of virtual work experience projects through the school’s careers website. Please see Ms Ryan to discuss this option.

2027 VET Course Induction

Year 10 students who have been offered a place in a school-based Vocational Education and Training (VET) course for 2027 will be required to attend a mandatory induction on Monday, 30 November 2026.

The induction applies to students undertaking one of the following courses:

  • Construction – Certificate II in Construction Pathways
  • Hospitality – Certificate II in Cookery
  • Business Services – Certificate III in Business

VET courses provide students with practical, industry-focused learning and nationally recognised qualifications, helping them develop skills for future employment, apprenticeships, further training and study. Information will be provided to students and parents/carers who have been offered a place in one of these courses.

Class of 2026 – Celebrating Success

As the Class of 2026 progresses through their HSC examinations, we are already celebrating some fantastic post-school outcomes. Of the students who applied for university early entry, 48% have received an offer, with some students receiving multiple offers, scholarships and accommodation opportunities.

Further offers through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) School Recommendation Scheme (SRS) are scheduled for release on 12 November. We look forward to celebrating more student achievements as these offers are announced.

University is just one of many pathways our students are pursuing. Some have secured places in formal gap year programs, including opportunities to work overseas, while others are planning to work and travel or are progressing with their applications to join the Australian Defence Force.

It is encouraging to see students pursuing a diverse range of pathways and making plans that reflect their individual goals and aspirations. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 on these achievements. Their hard work, commitment and forward planning are already opening doors to exciting opportunities beyond school!

As we all gather and stand upon Country, may we acknowledge and respect Gumbaynggirr Land and the thousands of years’ worth of both physical and spiritual connection to Country, culture and teachings embedded forever within these Lands.
