Primary Highlights and Achievements
Music Camp
Congratulations to four talented Primary musicians who have earned coveted placements at the prestigious HICES (Heads of Independent Co-Educational Schools) Music Camp.
The successful students heading to the August camp and finale performance at Sydney Town Hall are:
Margot Lawlor (Year 6) – Violin 1 (String Ensemble)
Angela Li (Year 6) – Violin 2 (String Ensemble)
Theo Williams (Year 6) – Alto Voice (Vocal Ensemble)
Eido Roques (Year 6) – Oboe (Concert Band)
The students will travel south in August for intensive masterclasses and ensemble rehearsals with renowned conductors, culminating in a major concert at the historic Sydney Town Hall.
Kokoda
Congratulations to all teams on an outstanding achievement in Kokoda! What an incredible effort across the board. Racking up those grueling kilometers while raising over $15,000 for a fantastic cause is a true testament to the dedication, grit, and spirit of our students and staff.
A massive special shout-out to BDC 2 for taking out the John Metson Kokoda School Cup in the 30 km event—and setting a brand-new course record of 4:25 hours!
100 Days of Kindy
Our Kindergarten students reached a very special milestone - 100 Days of Kindy! It has been wonderful to reflect on how much growth, learning, and fun our newest students have experienced since stepping through the gates at the beginning of the year. The day was filled with celebratory activities, creativity, and plenty of smiles as we marked 100 days of learning and friendships.
Academic Excellence: HICES Primary Debating
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who proudly represented BDC in the Primary HICES Debating Competition! Our debaters demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, articulate communication, and team collaboration as they tackled complex topics against tough opposition. They represented the College with great poise and maturity throughout the rounds.
Year 1 Outdoor Education
Our Year 1 students stepped out of the classroom and into nature for their Outdoor Education day! The experience gave our young learners a fantastic chance to build independence, explore the outdoors, foster teamwork, and develop confidence through hands-on, active learning experiences.
Year 4 Rites of Passage Camp
Our Year 4 students took an important step in their personal growth during their Rites of Passage Camp. This transformative experience encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones, build resilience, deepen peer relationships, and embrace growing responsibility as emerging leaders in the primary school.
Sporting Success: MTB, Football & Futsal
It’s been a busy time on the trails, pitches, and courts!
North Coast Schools MTB Competition: Our mountain bike riders brought fantastic energy and grit to the trails, navigating tough conditions and showing great sportsmanship against schools from across the region.
Barney Barselaar Cup: Our football teams displayed brilliant teamwork, tactical play, and heart on the field during the Barney Barselaar Cup matches, representing BDC with pride.
Futsal: Our futsal players have been bringing fast-paced energy, sharp skill, and high-level strategy to their recent fixtures, continuing to build on their athletic momentum.
