CIS Primary Athletics Championships

Our BDC Primary athletes recently represented the College at the CIS Primary Athletics Championships at Homebush, competing against some of the best athletes from independent schools across NSW.

It was a hot day with even hotter competition, and our students should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented BDC.

Leo had an outstanding day, finishing 2nd in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m, achieving personal bests in both events.

Emmy produced a fantastic performance in the High Jump, clearing 1.45m to finish 5th in a very strong field.

Maverick also had a great day, throwing a personal best of 23.9m in the discus.

BDC was also proudly represented by two relay teams in the Junior and Senior divisions.

Beyond the results, it was wonderful to see our students interacting with athletes from other schools and displaying excellent sportsmanship throughout the competition. Competing at this level is a fantastic achievement and a valuable experience for all involved.

Well done to all our BDC athletes who represented the College with pride. We also wish the very best of luck to those students who have qualified to compete at the NSWPSSA Championships next term.

NNSW School Futsal Championships

U13 Boys

Our U13 Boys Futsal team travelled to Port Macquarie after being invited to participate in Round 2 of the NNSW Futsal Championships. The boys played five games in a row to start the morning against some tough opponents from the Newcastle, Hunter and Port Macquarie areas.

They started the day with a tough win against Hastings, 4–3, scoring late to take the win. Then, they played Newcastle Grammar in another hard game, with the game ending in a 1–1 draw after being down 1–0 for most of the game.

In the third game against Rutherford Technology, we found it difficult after the first couple of tough games, going down 4–2. The boys recovered to then win the next two games before the break, 1–0 against Chatham High and 5–0 against St Clare’s School, followed by a 7–0 win against Wauchope High to finish the day in third place.

In the finals, the boys stepped up after the break, playing Rutherford again and defeating them 6–1, taking their chances and defending well as a team. Taking on Newcastle Grammar in the final, the boys played their best game, taking a strong 6–2 win, going ahead early and then taking the win to secure first place.

Well done to the boys on a great day and strong performances.

U15 Boys

The U15 Boys Futsal team travelled to Port Macquarie on Thursday, 27 September, to compete in a tournament against schools from across the coast.

The boys demonstrated excellent skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition. Despite three closely fought losses, they showed great resilience to reach the semi-finals, defeating the top-ranked team from Group A to progress to the second semi-final.

Goals from Oscar, Jaxon, Will and Orville kept the team competitive, while Logan delivered an outstanding performance in goals, making several crucial saves throughout the tournament. Will Parmenter was named MVP for his consistent skill, work rate, composure and leadership.

The team’s final match was against the undefeated Maitland Christian School. In another closely contested game, the boys narrowly missed out on first place, going down 2–1.

U15 Girls

After being crowned NCIS 15&U Football Champions the previous day, the girls backed it up less than 24 hours later by travelling to Port Macquarie for the NNSW 15&U Futsal Championships. Despite tired legs and a challenging start, the team showed tremendous resilience, determination and character to become champions.

The tournament began with two narrow losses to Merewether High School (5–3) and Newcastle Grammar School (3–2), despite creating plenty of opportunities. Rather than letting the results affect them, the girls remained positive and responded strongly. They secured a 2–1 win over Great Lakes College before producing a dominant 7–2 victory over Camden Haven High School to secure a semi-final position.

In the semi-final, the girls faced Merewether again, the team that had defeated them in the opening game. They produced an outstanding performance, dominating possession and displaying excellent passing, movement and finishing to secure a 4–1 victory and book their place in the grand final.

The girls carried that momentum into the final, producing another dominant performance to defeat Newcastle Grammar School 4–1 and claim the NNSW 15&U Futsal Championship.

To overcome two opening losses and then win four consecutive matches, including defeating the team that had beaten them earlier, was a fantastic demonstration of resilience and determination. Even more impressive was achieving this just one day after being crowned NCIS Football Champions. Two days, two tournaments and two championships — an incredible effort from an outstanding group of girls.

NCIS Football

Our U15 Boys and Girls competed in the NCIS Football Championship at the synthetics in Coffs Harbour recently. They played against teams from across the region in a round-robin format, playing lots of short games throughout the day.

The Boys were undefeated on the day, winning most games and drawing with Lindisfarne and Emmanuel in tight games that could’ve gone either way. They finished second on the day, behind Lindisfarne.

The Girls were also undefeated on the day, winning all of their games with some great team play and strong performances by all players.
