Mid-term variety at Bishop Druitt College
You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance
— Psalm 32:1-2,6-7
Mid-term is always an interesting time in dynamic schools such as Bishop Druitt College. Last week I had the opportunity to be involved in a variety of exciting events throughout our beautiful college from guitar groups to robot coding sessions and sporting events. The highlight for me though was to see so many parents and grandparents shine with pride as our kindy kids enjoyed the festivities of the Teddy Bear's Picnic.
The BDC Playgroup had started again after a long delay with COVID-19 and the numbers are growing quickly. I encourage you to spread the word on this initiative, now in its third year. The children and the mums and dads (and nanas) are really enjoying the socialisation and the fun.
Open Day - Tuesday 25 May
Our college Open Day is always a highlight in our calendar and if you missed it last year I would encourage you to find the time to visit and maybe bring a friend as well. We will be showcasing our signature teaching and learning programs as a key part of the program for 2021.
Choose from individual tours, virtual real-time tours, or chat with a teacher. To book, phone 02 6651 5644 extension 208.

School Improvement Plan 2021
The School Improvement Plan for this school year has been updated and is now available for viewing. I wish to thank parents who contributed to the AIS NSW Perspectives survey last year as feedback from this survey appears as target areas in the new plan. Educational trends focussing on student wellbeing, literacy and numeracy development, soft skills development and links to future pathways are all included in our vision for 2021. View the School Improvement Plan here.

Mother’s and Father’s Day Breakfasts
I am excited to announce we will be hosting our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast (6 May) and Father’s Day Breakfast (2 September), with a difference. Due to COVID-19 restrictions both of these events will be capped at 100 attendees. As the rules and regulations for school events change we hope to see an increase in this number. Both events will be held on the oval and we very much look forward to having parents come to campus again. Please keep an eye out in the next month for the link to register for these events.
NCIS Swimming Carnival Success
Congratulations to our primary school swimmers (2nd place) and our secondary school swimmers (results posted online tonight) at the recent North Coast Independent Schools’ swimming championships held at the Alstonville Aquatic Centre. They put in a fantastic effort and should be extremely proud of attitude, effort and behaviour.
