Year 10 Career Exploration Week (Work Experience)
We currently have 132 Year 10 students participating in Career Exploration Week (Work Experience). This valuable opportunity allows students to gain firsthand insight into a range of job roles and industries, helping them make informed decisions about their future career pathways.
It is wonderful to see so many students independently securing placements that reflect their interests and aspirations. Students are encouraged to show genuine engagement, uphold our BDC values, and make the most of the experience by asking thoughtful and curious questions.
To our BDC community members who are hosting one or more of our students, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your time, effort, and commitment in organising, supervising, and supporting these placements. Your contribution is truly appreciated, and you are playing a significant role in a young person’s career development. We hope you enjoy sharing your work and industry expertise with our students.
UNSW School of Clinical Medicine – High School Mentoring Program
Students selected for the UNSW School of Clinical Medicine High School Mentoring Program have now attended their first session, where they participated in hands-on learning activities, including practising suturing, alongside a range of other medical skills.
Our next round of Medicine Entry Workshops for interested Year 11 and 12 students will be held on Tuesday lunchtime, Week 8. Students considering a career in medicine, dentistry, or health sciences are strongly encouraged to attend. The first session will cover university admission pathways and provide an overview of the Universities Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT).
BDC-Delivered Vocational Education and Training (VET) Induction
BDC offers a range of high-quality VET qualifications that students can include as part of their HSC program. These courses are HSC and ATAR eligible, and students who meet all course requirements will also graduate with an industry-recognised qualification.
Students entering Year 11 in 2025 who have chosen to study one or more of the following subjects - Entertainment (Cert III in Live Production and Technical Services), Construction (Cert II in Construction), Hospitality (Cert II in Cookery), or Business Services (Cert III in Business) - are required to attend a compulsory VET induction on Monday 2 December, during Periods 1–4. Information has been emailed to students and their parents/carers.
