Year 10 internships

Congratulations to Year 10’s Isabelle Simon, who has commenced her Internship with Woolgoolga Coastal Pharmacy.  Isabelle, who has an interest in community health,  is attending the workplace 1 day per week and is learning the many different aspects of business operations and getting first hand knowledge of the different careers in this industry.

Year 9 Careers

Our planned career session with Year 9 this week had to be run via Zoom with individual tutor groups.  This session included an online quiz to assist individual students identify their interests and explore how these may relate to future careers.  We will use interests information to build on this over the next few years, to assist students to learn about themselves and choose a suitable career.  Unfortunately, many students were unable to complete the activity in the time we had.  I have shared the instructions on the Year 9 Careers Google classroom (Class code zfcxcxx) and I ask that parents encourage their year 9 student to complete the activity in preparation for career development activities they will undertake next year.  Next week Year 9 will be doing a resume and cover letter workshop with me.

Some employers contact BDC directly with opportunities on offer for a BDC student - as per the current job board link.   I usually advertise these via each year group’s Careers Google Classroom.  Other general job vacancies in the area are posted on the  Careers facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bdccareers
