Lift your mood with music and some performances from our students

Wednesday, 18 Aug 2021

Researchers from the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development have found that music increases memory and retention as well as maximises learning capabilities.

Our brains trigger particular emotions, memories and thoughts, which often leads to more positive effects toward mental health.

According to OpenMinds, music can elevate your mood and motivation, reduce stress, improve focus, help relaxation, and reduce anxiety and depression.

With that in mind, the Performing Arts team has put a variety of musical performances from throughout 2021 so far. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

And some advice for our budding musicians at home in lockdown: Play your instruments every day. It's a great way to relax and have a break from classroom work.
