HSC Exams

Congratulations to our Year 12 dance students who completed their HSC Dance Practical Examinations last Monday and Tuesday.

Drama is the next practical subject to be examined and NESA will be at the college on Friday 1st September to assess our HSC Drama students.

Music practical examination dates have just been released. Our HSC Music students will have their performance assessments on Monday 11th September.

Good luck to our Year 12 Performing Arts students!

AMEB Examinations

Over the past few weeks, we have had many students sit AMEB Examinations and results are starting to filter in. Congratulations to all students who sat an exam. Two of our High Performance Performance Arts students, Camble Scott and Olivia Hoare received outstanding results in their exams. Campbell completed Grade 8 Clarinet with Honors and Olivia sat her 7th Grade Double Bass exam and was awarded an A+. Well done and congratulations!

Regional Youth Orchestra

Congratulations to Olivia Hoare (10) and Connor Nathan (9) who attended the Regional Youth Orchestra program in Sydney this week. RYO is an audition-based youth orchestral program for talented students from NSW, providing opportunities to play with other regional youth musicians and learn from leading conductors, orchestras and artists from Australian and the world.

Well done Olivia and Connor.

Secondary Dance Academy

The Secondary Dance Academy have been learning about Site Specific Dance. What happens when we take dance from the stage? How can the environment in which we move influence our movement? Students explored this concept by visiting the Adventure Playground on Margarets Field. They worked in groups to film each other and will edit their work into films.

Secondary Assembly

Thank you to our students who have performed at assembly over the past few weeks. Camble Scott amazing the assembly with his performance of Rachmaninov and in Week 6, we had a Japanese visiting student perform a Green Day piece on the drumkit with backing.

Performing Arts Awards Evening

Our first BDC Performing Arts Awards Evening will be held in the Branson Centre on Thursday 9th November from 6pm. More information about this event will be coming out soon, but please mark this date in your calendars. It is going to be a great evening celebrating student successes in the Performing Arts.

Performance Practice and Anxiety
