Term 2 Kicks Off with Energy and Engagement in the Primary School

We have had a vibrant and purposeful beginning to Term 2 in the Primary School at Bishop Druitt College. A special welcome is extended to our new students and their families. We are so pleased to have you join our community. Thank you to all families for your ongoing support with morning and afternoon routines. Your care in ensuring students arrive and depart safely each day is truly appreciated.

As the weather begins to cool, a reminder that students may wear either their full summer or full winter uniform. Please ensure that all jumpers and jackets are clearly labelled to avoid any mix-ups during the day.

Highlights from Weeks 1–3:

ANZAC Day Service: Our students participated with great respect in the college’s ANZAC Day service. It was a reflective moment where students honoured those who have served and continue to serve our country.

Mother’s Day Celebrations:
Seeing so many families joining us for our Mother’s Day Breakfast was heart-warming. The morning was filled with joy as students celebrated the important women in their lives through thoughtful messages and shared moments.

NCIS Cross Country:
Congratulations to all students who represented BDC at the NCIS Cross Country Carnival. Their determination, team spirit, and encouragement of one another were commendable. We are proud of all our runners for their effort and sportsmanship.

Mountain Biking Begins:
Our Primary mountain biking group has kicked off with great enthusiasm. Students are developing skills, confidence, and a love for the outdoors through this exciting co-curricular opportunity.

North Coast Da Vinci Decathlon:
Year 5 and 6 students recently competed in the North Coast Da Vinci Decathlon, tackling a range of academic challenges requiring creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. We commend their outstanding teamwork and curiosity.

Learning in Classrooms:
Across K–6, students have settled quickly into routines and are engaging deeply in their learning. From rich mathematical investigations to creative writing, inquiry, and collaborative projects, it’s been a strong start to the term.

Looking Ahead – Upcoming Events:

Year 5 Camp (Week 4): Our Year 5 students are heading off on camp for an exciting experience that builds independence, teamwork, and resilience.

Teddy Bears Picnic (Week 4):
Our Kindergarten students will enjoy a magical day of storytelling, music, and imagination as they celebrate with their favourite teddy bear friends. This is always a treasured highlight of the year.

Eisteddfods
: Our talented students will soon be representing BDC in a variety of local eisteddfods across the performing arts. We wish all participants the very best as they showcase their musical, dramatic, and dance skills.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations (Week 9):
Although NAIDOC Week falls during the holidays this year, we will celebrate during the final week of term with meaningful cultural experiences, storytelling, and a special Primary Assembly.

EYE Week (Week 9):
We are excited to celebrate EYE Week (express yourselves, everyone), an opportunity for all students to express themselves through the arts.

We are looking forward to the exciting weeks ahead as we continue to learn, grow, and connect together as a Primary community.
