Principal's News Term 2 Week 6

Friday, 06 June 2025
Psalm 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

The focus on Pentecost in Chapel with Rev Lisa has reminded us of our connection to our Anglican traditions and the importance of this day. It is 50 days after Easter or 50 days after Jesus has risen from the dead, and considered the birthday of the Church.

Year 12 Retreat

Our Year 12 Retreat at Yarrahappinni Adventist Youth Centre, Grassy Head last week was a wonderful experience for the Class of 2025, and has provided encouragement and inspiration as they work towards the culmination of their education at the college.

Perks and Perspectives

Come and join me and some of our amazing college leaders for a free coffee and a chat!

I will be hosting morning teas in Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour and Bellingen to give families and any interested members of the public the opportunity to drop in, ask questions or simply have a conversation. Please join us if you are free and share this opportunity with people you may know in these areas.

Flood Appeal

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our successful BDC Flood Appeal and thank you to Anglicare. It is a blessing for our school to be able to support our neighbouring communities impacted by the floods and demonstrate to our students how to live “faithfulness in service”. The donations of cleaning products, linen and Bunnings vouchers will give a helping hand to those in need.

Athletics Carnivals

The weather has provided challenges across many recent events, however we are so pleased that our K-2 Athletics Carnival, Secondary Athletics Carnival and the competitors' event were able to be held. Well done to our student athletes and staff on these fabulous events.

Kindy Pop In and Open Day

We recently welcomed over 370 attendees for our Kindy Pop-In and approximately 100 attendees for Open Day! Thank you to everyone for attending and we hope you love our school as much as we do!

Eisteddfods

Congratulations to our many talented students who are participating in the Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod, across instrumental, vocal, choirs and dance. We are so proud of you all.

Year 5 Camp

While the school was closed due to floods, our Year 5 students enjoyed a wonderful sunny camp at Tyalgum Ridge Retreat. Camps are a fabulous way for students to develop independence, build confidence, foster teamwork and social skills and provide new experience. They also contribute to a sense of community and promote outdoor learning, and our students had an incredible time.

New Music Building

Good news - Phase 1 of our Performing Arts Project with our new music rooms was delivered successfully and is on target to be completed by mid-July, barring bad weather, which we are all looking forward to.

Kokoda Trip

60 students and 15 teachers left for Brisbane today for an incredible endurance event.

The Spirit of Kokoda demonstrates that when we work together, look out for each other, and show commitment to a task, things that at first seem impossible, suddenly become achievable. We wish our Kokoda team well and thank Ms Christabel Martin for coordinating this challenging event.

Upcoming Signature Events

We are looking forward to three signature events at the end of Term 2 and I invite you to join us at one or more of these wonderful community events with your children:

NAIDOC Assembly on Thursday 26 June

Foundation Day Assembly on Friday 27 June

EYE Festival runs from 22-26 September
