NCIS Primary Netball

A beautiful sunny day made for excellent conditions for NCIS Primary Netball. It was a great day up at Tweed Heads despite the early start.

Congratulations to the team who attended. The standard of play varied from school to school however the enthusiasm did not, and we certainly had keen, energetic, and talented students. The growth in their confidence individually and as a team has been amazing to watch. The shooters were outstanding and couldn’t have done their job without our amazing defensive and zippy mid-court players.

We drew for 1st place with Emmanuel in the Primary Girls however we were split by points for and against meaning we came 2nd.

The girls were amazing on and off the court.

Thanks to the coaching of Ms Fisher and the driver Mr Van Bussell.

It was a great day for everyone and the girls showed excellent sportsmanship!

Netball NSW Cup

A fantastic day of netball, for our 7/8 and 9/10 girls who competed at the Netball NSW Schools Cup Regional finals in Port Macquarie. Both teams finished the day undefeated North Coast Regional Champions. The 7/8 team came back from a 4-goal deficit early in their final to win 18-13. The 9/10 team showed incredible composure defeating arch rivals, St John Paul College, by one goal to take the Championship.

This now puts both our teams through to the State Finals in Sydney in November and places them in the top 16 teams in the state.

A fantastic reward for many years of hard work for not only these students but the many that have been a part of our Netball Academy over the past 5 years.

Paul Kelly Cup

An outstanding effort for our Year 5 & 6 Paul Kelly Cup team for 2023. After dominating the two regional competitions in Coffs our boys headed off to Sydney to put their best boots forward.

This experience for many, was their second time. Our bus ride was vibrant and Oscar said, “I recommend this trip to all next year's kids, it’s such a great experience. We trained hard with Charlie Martin from Year 11, had heaps of fun, stayed in a cool hotel, and played on the field of the great Giants stars. “

In Sydney this year, we played 3 games and only lost one by 2 points. We just missed out on the semi-finals by a small percentage. We are eager and keen to continue taking AFL on, the boys are up for the challenge next year.

It is so wonderful to provide this opportunity to our students. We loved seeing their skills progress and their passion growing, with many of them joining teams in the local competition.

Thank you to all the students who participated, our families who supported us, and a special mention to Charlie who took on the major job of coaching the team and providing them with lots of laughs and competitive play.

We had a ball!

The BDC Mountain Bike Team
