SPORT
GENERAL

This is a wrap for sport this year. Congratulations to all our students that have contributed to sport in some way during 2021 (another year of disruptions to competitive sport).

There were some fantastic achievements both individually and from our teams.

Thank you to the parents that have helped at carnivals this year, without your assistance the carnival would not run so smoothly.

Martin and I look forward to working with our students again in 2022 and fingers crossed we get to participate in more sporting competitions.

Outside of BDC Sport Achievements

Congratulations to Finn Savage (6) sailed with his father Ryan in extremely blustery conditions at the Saratoga Sailing club in the NSW Heron State Titles.  A low pressure system coincided with the event, creating strong gusts resulting in many capsizes and rescues.

There were over 30 herons entered in the event, coming from many different clubs throughout NSW and as far away as Canberra.

Overall they finished third with other local teams coming in second and fourth.

The event was greatly enjoyed by all sailors.

Finn will be continuing his training to prepare for the Sabot Nationals to be held over the Christmas break.

Please email a short report and photos to bhilton@bdc.nsw.edu.au with any outside of BDC sporting achievements for inclusion in the newsletter.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Year 3 ‘Camp’

What a great day Year 3 had a ‘camp’.

The excitement was high as they boarded the bus for the hour-long journey to Yarrahapinni.

On arrival students were placed in groups led by the fabulous BDC staff, Maretta Wood, Rachel Caesar and Martin Kelleher.

Each group participated in a challenge course, flying fox and horizontal bungee, it was hard to pick the favourite for most of the students.

Lunch was a hit with everyone, HAYSTACKS! Corn chips piled high with meat and beans, salad and topped off with sour cream, yum. Dessert was an ice cream sandwich.

With full bellies the students headed off to their last activity before heading back to school. Many students couldn’t keep their eyes open for the journey home, but I’m sure they were full of excitement still as they told their parents about their day.

Thank you to Mr Smith and Mr Johnstone for visiting during the day.
