On Friday 23 May, 14 of our BDC Year 10 students had the privilege of working with a team of Scientists from the Faculty of Science and Engineering - Macquarie University, Sydney.
The STEM Education Program engaged students in two different hands-on activities. These activities provided leadership opportunities for the Year 10 students, as they presented the STEM activities to classes of BDC Year 8 students.
They presented real-world challenges, such as producing healthcare products from nature and producing sustainable energy from fruit. The Year 10 students were mentored and trained in Science communication and workshop delivery. The 14 students involved had a great experience and learned a lot from the Macquarie team. We really appreciate them coming to BDC.
Thanks to all of the teachers who supervised these sessions and thanks to Mrs Harris (Science HOF) for coordinating and making it happen.
