The BDC community are coming together to celebrate NAIDOC Week

The Bishop Druitt College community are coming together to celebrate NAIDOC Week from July 29th – August 2nd. This special week will be kickstarted with BDC’s Goori Group students working on totem pole art designs, kangaroo burgers for sale at the BDC canteen, a NAIDOC Assembly and the BDC yarning circle will play host to a smoking ceremony with dancing and student voice talks on July 30 at 10:40am. 

On Wednesday students and staff will enjoy a special sausage sizzle where they can taste kangaroo sausage and on Friday, a touch football game of Indigenous vs non-Indigenous preceded by a skills workshop. 

This will be a really exciting week and Uncle Troy and Clark Webb will be leading the smoking ceremony and dance on Tuesday.

NAIDOC Week is a highlight in the year for the BDC community. Our Indigenous students take leadership and proudly share, inviting all to celebrate and learn about Gumbanynggirr culture.’ Rev Naomi Cooke, Chaplain.
