Hello and welcome back for 2024! We have some big change in careers this year welcoming Ms Janine Ryan as our new Careers Pathways Advisor and saying farewell to Mrs Gina Driscoll. Gina is retiring and looking forward to some travel time!

University Roadshow comes to BDC!

University of Newcastle, Charles Sturt University, University of New England and Southern Cross University visited BDC this week to do a fun and interactive presentation to our Year 12’s. Our students were able to chat with student ambassadors who are currently studying at these unis and get the inside information about courses, scholarships and more.

Macquarie University Leadership Forum

Two of our Year 12 students, Caitlin Kerr and Jasmeh Kaur were nominated by BDC last year for the Macquarie University Future Leaders Program. Caitlin and Jasmeh joined other students from around NSW who travelled to Macquarie Uni in the January holidays and participated in future leader conference.

Macquarie University’s Leadership Forum was an exciting and inspiring event held for Year 12 students who were nominated as ‘emerging leaders’ by their schools. Over 200 students came from all over NSW and were treated to some insightful presentations on leadership, communication, authenticity and taking opportunities – presented by communications expert Brian Dickinson, and Macquarie Uni’s Sally Hurst (young alumna) and Professor Ronika Power. Each speaker used their own personal and professional experiences to connect with the students, and student ambassadors shared their advice in a fun way, too. Macquarie Uni also provided the emerging leaders with a lunch overlooking the beautiful lake on campus and a tour (including being one of the first groups to see the new Law building!).

UCAT Preparation Series

We will be holding a series of workshops for students wishing to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) in 2024 to apply for entry into medicine, dental or clinical science degree programs at universities requiring this test. An introduction workshop will be held later this term for Year 12 students and parents, Year 11 students wishing to sit this test in 2025 will be invited to come along to the introduction session. Details to come!
